Why I Draw
.I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2016 aged 41. Drawing, physical activity, diet and managing constipation all help me manage my condition.The Parkinson's Art has been a result of a vision to educate around the condition especially the non-motor or movement symptoms that you can't see. I picked up drawing again in 2018 after life got in the way of this enjoyable hobby.
I have been an Emergency Medicine Consultant in Leicester since 2009, having trained in the East Midlands. I am a graduate from Queen's University Belfast.. I am presently the topic team leader for The Royal College of Emergency Medicine Time Critical Medication Quality Improvement Project ensuring that people with Parkinson's and Insulin Treated Diabetes receive their medication when they usually take it.
In May 2024 I was diagnosed with Testicular Cancer aged 49. The Testicular Cancer Art below is to encourage men to ensure they do a self-examination monthly and seek help early if they notice any change in the size or shape. 12 sketches based on the question "What do you call your's' they have been drawn to get the conversatrion started. I am hoping my 50's are easier than my 40's have been.
